Roadway Excavation Started on York Road, Hudson Road, and Raleigh Road

Work Performed, August 14th to August 18th
·         Storm sewer installation along Baffin Road and Drake Road.
·         Roadway excavation and installation of aggregate base course along Hudson Road and York Road
·         Temporary relocation of AT&T underground wires in conflict with work to be performed
·         Relocation of sanitary sewer clean-outs in conflict with proposed concrete curb & gutter
·         Adjustment of existing sanitary sewer manholes requiring excavation.

Work Anticipated to be performed, August 21st to August 25th
·         Continue with storm sewer installation along Drake Road and Baffin Road
·         Continue with miscellaneous underground utility relocations and adjustments for sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main.
·         Complete roadway excavation and installation of aggregate base along York Road
·         Begin roadway excavation along Raleigh Road from south end to Drake Road.
·         AT&T to begin permanent relocation of underground wire in conflict with proposed improvements.

The contractor has continued to work on the storm sewer while also performing other underground utility relocations within the areas that are being excavated for roadway improvements. It was initially thought the storm sewer would be installed by the end of this week; however, since they have been doing other work as well, this is delayed slightly.

Currently, we anticipate the underground utility improvements to be completed by Labor Day.  Additionally, following the Labor Day weekend, we anticipate concrete curb & gutter to begin along York Road and Hudson Road.

Either later next week, or early the week of August 28th, the contractor will be working along Raleigh Road between Hudson Road and Drake Road. As in the past with work in this area, we will request all residents south of Drake Road to relocate their vehicles during working hours as the roadway is excavated and will not be travelable. Residents affected will be notified of exact dates and instructions to parking prior this section of roadway being closed.

Thanks again for all your patience and understanding as construction continues.

Work Anticipated to be performed, August 14th to August 18th
·         Complete storm sewer installation for the entire project.
·         Begin roadway improvements along Hudson Road and York Road

The underground utility improvements (sanitary sewer, water main, and storm sewer) of the project are nearly completed. It is anticipated the work will be completed by the end of this week. There are likely some minor adjustments and work to be completed following this week, but the major construction of these items will be completed.

The contractor is beginning the roadway improvements along Hudson Road and York Road this week. The roadway improvements will include removing the existing asphalt pavement, installing new gravel base materials, repair unstable areas of the existing materials under the roadway, new concrete curb & gutter, and new asphalt pavement. Likely, the roadway excavation and aggregate base course installation will be performed this week, with concrete curb & gutter performed in the coming weeks.

Additional conflicts with utility company underground cables were identified this week. The Village has been in contact with these companies and requesting the cables be relocated and quickly as possible to prevent further delays in the project.

Thanks again for all your patience and understanding as we switch from the underground utility improvement phase to the roadway improvement phase of the project.

Storm Sewer Installation Continues

Work Performed, July 24th to July 28th
·         Continued with storm sewer installation along Raleigh Road from Drake Road north to Glenview Road
·         Continued with storm sewer installation along Raleigh Road from Drake Road to the south
·         Started storm sewer installation along Baffin Road
·         Nicor Gas has completed making all the connections between the new gas main and each residence.

Work Anticipated to be performed, July 31st to August 4th
·         Continue with storm sewer installation along Raleigh Road, Baffin Road, and Drake Road
·         Grind-in-place the existing pavement along York Road, Hudson Road, and Raleigh Road south of Hudson Road
·         Nicor to complete abandonments of existing gas main and services.

The contractor has continued installing storm sewer along Raleigh Road. Due to several conflicts within existing utility companies (ComEd, AT&T, and WOW!), the contractor will be moving around to different areas of the jobsite until the utilities in conflict are relocated.  It is anticipated the storm sewer will be completed by the 2nd week of August.

Once the storm sewer along Raleigh is completed, the contractor will begin roadway improvements on the south half of the project along Hudson Road and York Road. The first step will be to grind-in-place the existing pavement in the area where it was not previously completed. As roadway construction and excavation begins, it will be increasingly more difficult to travel along the roadways because the entire roadway width will be under construction. The Village will provide notices regarding anticipated timeframes for work along each section of roadway.

The roadway improvements will include removing the existing asphalt pavement, installing new gravel base materials, repair unstable areas of the existing materials under the roadway, new concrete curb & gutter, and new asphalt pavement.

Thanks again for all your understanding as construction continues.

The contractor will then resume installing storm sewer along Raleigh Road during the middle of next week.

Many of you have likely heard in the news about the potential for construction shut-downs associated without having a state budget passed by the legislature. This project is not affected by that potential shut-down since no State or Federal funds are being utilized.  This project is 100% funded by the Village of Glenview; therefore, work will continue without delay.
